Tooth loss may be an early warning "sign of heart disease", scientists said today.

Preliminary findings from a new study suggest a link between losing teeth from gum disease and incipient clogged arteries.

Previous research had already indicated a connection between gum disease and heart attacks and strokes. Experts believe bacteria which infect the gums may also cause harmful inflammation of blood vessels.

The new results emerge from an American study called Invest, which is looking at the relationship between gum disease and early, symptomless, signs of arterial damage.

A group of 711 volunteers aged 55 and over, the first of 1,050 being enrolled in New York, took part in the research.

They were given dental, physical and neurological examinations, and asked how often they brushed and flossed their teeth.

Ultrasound was used to probe the participants' carotid arteries - the blood vessels supplying the brain - and detect clogging plaque building up on their walls.

The scientists found that the prevalence of carotid plaque increased with the number of missing teeth the volunteers had.

Among those missing between zero and nine teeth, 45 per cent had signs of plaque in their arteries. This rose to 60 per cent for those with 10 or more missing teeth.

The findings were reported today in the journal Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association. Chief investigator Dr Moise Desvarieux, from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, in the United States, said: "To our knowledge this is the first paper to identify a relationship between tooth loss and subclinical cardiovascular disease."

He noted that many of the volunteers with gum disease also had heart risk factors such as smoking, poor diet, and low levels of physical activity.

But tooth loss was thought to be more than a simple marker for lifestyle, since the link remained after accounting for these and other factors.

there is something that makes me think, that the Google search spider or googlebot or whatever it's called, do its work randomly. there are postings were immediately indexed and there aren't. This statement I get when I noticed my two posts, The first post directly indexed in a matter of hours, but another post not indexed for days. there are also posts that are surprisingly fill the first page of Google immediately after launch and then a few days later disappeared from all Google search pages. others survive in the first and second pages.

then I said to myself, umm ok googlebot working at random. If they like it then they will index, if they do not like it they shut the Index door down. but there is a tickle in my head who saying that there is a certain code or script that highly favored by google. if you use the code or script on your blog or website then automatically you will be the king on the first page of google. this code or scripts is still a mystery to me, but maybe, some SEO experts out there, including you, know exactly what is the code and scripts. those at google certainly know about it, because their posts always fill the first page of google.

for me personally, because I do not really understand the programming language, so what I do is just write and write. maybe if your post already reached hundreds. then by itself, will be indexed by google. If you write good quality original content then it would be great, they always like it. but still, it's not a guarantee to be on the first page. it happens on HubPages and EzineArticles, they have thousands of posts, they filter before publish, which means they have thousands of original and quality posts, still very difficult to be on the first page of google.

so, as I said, googlebot works randomly, therefore do what you can do. if you can only write, then write. If you can coding and scripts, then use it to your blog and website. and the rest, may the force be with you.

Need your opinion about blogger and wordpress

I know that you're all here are great writers, and of course as a writer at the beginning of your career must be very familiar with blogger and wordpress, these two websites very helpful for novice writers before having a dot com or go professionally write many posts on HubPages. My question is which one is better from both of them?

I personally, honestly never use wordpress, until today I use blogger as a place to write all the posts perhaps because I found that it is very easy to use blogger and not interested in trying wordpress since many say that wordpress is a bit technical. but, many also found that Wordpress is very easy to use and very friendly with google search robots so that all posts in wordpress will be easily indexed by google.

I know that My knowledge about this is very minimal, therefore I am looking for a response from you all which certainly have extensive knowledge about this.

How to summarize a long document or article

feel bored and tired to read documents in the tens or hundreds of pages, or become dizzy reading so many articles. how to summarize all the pages into a few paragraphs? you, of course, familiar with Microsoft Word, I personally using MS Word for most of my life (dont judge me). MS Word offers an add-on called auto summary tools.  I use MS Word 2007. you can get this tool by going to customize quick access toolbar - more commands, then you can search auto summary tools.

there is one other way faster if you do not want to use the MS Word, that is go to smmry.com go there and you will be able to directly use it. just copy the document or article, and paste there. or you can also just enter the URL of the document or article.

I more often use smmry.com because besides faster it is also easy to use, and we can find out what percentage of a summary of the whole document.

Tired of trying to be on the first page of google? just have fun with it!

for fun, I want to find the physical form of a googlebot so I looked it up on google image. as I had expected, there are so many pictures of googlebot there. maybe I will take a good one and make a tshirt.

why I am interested in Googlebot is because I was so curious about how it works. see, there are so many blog or website owner desperately trying bring their blog and website to the first page of google, and that includes me, and you of course.  so, right now, because I've run out of ideas, I just want to have fun with it. This makes me think that those who work for SEO must spend long hours in front of their monitors only to optimize one keyword (I do not know if this is right or wrong,  just let me know). anyway, they got high pay for it.

back to Googlebot thing, and t shirt of course, isn't this interesting? I mean, make a tshirt with googlebot picture and it says "want to be on the first page of google? step over my dead body!" but unfortunately I have not put it in photoshop yet, but i will.

Google Glass needs a collision detection application

I want to talk a bit about the Google Glass, I have seen a variety of videos and articles about the Google Glass, as a fan of Google, I am very impressed with their innovation. though indeed Google Glass is highly unlikely to enter the Asian market in the near future and particularly the Indonesian market. but I'm pretty sure that they will definitely develop the Google Glass in various language versions and it would be really awesome.

because I have not used it, this makes me wonder, can the user use the Google Glass while driving? or riding a bicycle? or just walking in a public place? I know that the image does not block the view of the user because it is located in the upper right, but Is it safe to use google glass when driving?

google should be really careful to incorporate applications into google glass, should not include applications that can interfere with concentration of users. However, I read about facebook and twitter are developing applications for google glass, very encouraging but also alarming, can you pay attention to the road when you're engrossed in using twitter or facebook? I have an idea, what if google make an app which serves to inform the user that he is going to hit something in front of him, and automatically kill apps that are currently active.

I want to say that google glass is a very amazing innovation, but it does not need to be supplemented by applications that can interfere with the users, for that reason google may develop smart watches or smart earphone. or even Google developing a smartphone that approach the capabilities of SELMA in time trax serial.

To be on the first page of google search results is a mystery

a few days ago I wrote a blog about finding a job outside the U.S., ok on launch day the blog has not been indexed by google, but how lucky I was after that, exactly a day after that, the blog appears on the first page of google search results compete with more than 500 million pages, wow! it was a remarkable achievement.

The blog was sitting on the first page of google until the next few days, until this morning to be exact. then suddenly, I just checked again, that the blog has gone from the first page, not also on page two, or even the tenth page, disappeared without a trace. well, Google Penguin may have destroyed it from the search results. i'm ok with that.

so my tentative conclusion is, ok my blog is not really qualified so Google decided to eliminate it from google search results, and the reason why the blog's been in the first page of google is I wrote it on blogger, it contains unique content, and it has just been released at the time. so for me is this remains a mystery of google, sometimes you're on top,  and sometimes you completely disappear from circulation. Just keep writing and enjoy your day.
